Dementia and Alzheimer’s are perpetually evolving diseases requiring the act of caregiving to be a fundamentally collaborative and yet codependent process.
As an individual with dementia progresses in the disease, so does the caregiver in their physical, spiritual and emotional development.
We know that no progression is ever linear. It’s as true for the primary caregiver as it is for the individual suffering with the disease.
But, its trajectory is the inverse of most progressions.
As one individual declines, the other must advance.
